Fairfield, CT - Manhattan was denied their first conference road victory on Wednesday night when the Jaspers were beaten by Fairfield 2-1. After conceding two goals in the first half, Manhattan benefited from an own goal in the 87th minute but couldn't dent the scoreboard further to tie things up.
*Fairfield's Rasmus Sorensen Rejnhold opened the scoring with a tap in finish from the far side of the box in the 23rd minute. A minute later, he found the back of the net again on a curling shot that beat Manhattan goalie Danny DiMarco.
*Junior Hunter Kochiss played the second half in net for Manhattan after DiMarco made four saves in the first half.
*Manhattan outshot Fairfield 14-10 in the loss. Wednesday night's game marked the second time this season Manhattan lost a game in which they outshot the opponent — the first time came against Siena on Oct. 2nd.
*Brandon Joseph-Buadi was the focal point for Manhattan's offense on his way to registering four shots, including two on net. Joseph-Buadi tried his luck from outside the box in the 62nd minute leading to an aerial save by Fairfield goalie Will Marment. The save kept Fairfield's two-goal lead intact at the time.
*Manhattan is now 2-6-2 overall with an 0-3-1 ledger in the MAAC. Meanwhile, Fairfield improved to 2-2-1 in conference games.
*Manhattan has a quick turnaround and concludes their three-game road trip at Marist on Sat., Oct. 16. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
