Scaglione Sets School Record At ECAC Championships

Boston, MA - Freshman Andria Scaglione (Oceanside, NY / Oceanside) set the Manhattan College record in the women's indoor 3,000-meter race on Sunday, earning sixth place overall at the 2020 ECAC/IC4A Indoor Track and Field Championships. 

Scaglione, who earned bronze in the event at the MAAC Championships, recorded a time of 9:33.98, besting Lisa Fajardo's previous record of 9:39.00. Scaglione's previous PR was 9:40.30, set at MAACs. 

Scaglione headlined a great day for the Jaspers, who earned other personal and season-bests. 

Throwers
Anu Awonusi (Dublin, Ireland / Kilkenny College), the reigning MAAC Champion in the men's shot put, set a PR in the IC4A finals, hitting 18.18 meters and finishing in second. The performance marked the first time in his collegiate career Awonusi has thrown over 18 meters in the shot. 

Lasma Padedze (Ogre, Latvia / Ogre Secondary School No. 1) placed sixth in the women's shot put with a season-best throw of 14.12 meters, hitting over 14 meters for the first time this season. 

Sprints
After qualifying for the women's 200-meter finals on Saturday with an indoor PR of 24.64, Niasia Boone (Morrisville, PA / Pennsbury) recorded a time of 24.66 on Sunday, finishing in the top 10 overall.

The ECAC/IC4A Championships mark the completion of the Jaspers' 2019-20 indoor season. Manhattan track and field will next be in action in outdoor competition at the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, SC, starting on March 19.
