Riverdale, NY – Senior Emily Sandford (Floral Park, NY / Sacred Heart) scored four goals and won four draw controls, propelling Manhattan to 15-11 victory over Detroit Mercy at Gaelic Park Saturday evening.
Junior Carmella Liscio led the Jaspers with five points, netting three goals and adding two assists. Senior Deb Peifer (Collegeville, PA / Methacton), junior Alaina Burgess (Holden, MA / The Governor's Academy) and freshman Reagan Mullins (Islip, NY / Islip) each tallied two goals for the Jaspers.
Sandford opened the scoring just 72 seconds into the match to give Manhattan a 1-0 lead. Liscio closed the first half scoring with a free position goal with seven minutes before halftime. Manhattan led 6-2 at the break.
Detroit Mercy closed the gap to 8-5 on a Kaitlyn Wandelt goal in the 39th minute, but from there, Manhattan took control, scoring seven of the next ten goals, finishing with a pair from Mullins. The Titans added three late tallies but Manhattan cruised to a 15-11 win.
Freshman Ashley Gambardella (Bethpage, NY / Plainedge) made nine saves for the Jaspers to earn her second win of the season.
The Jaspers return to action on Wednesday, March 4th in Easton, PA against Lafayette at 7 pm.

- The 15 goals Manhattan scored were the most the Jaspers have scored since March 22, 2019 at Canisius when Manhattan won 15-10.
