Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) scored 19 points with nine rebounds, four steals and a block to power Manhattan past Rider 56-51 in the MAAC opener for each team at Alumni Gymnasium.
Leading by one with 1:21 remaining, the Jasper defense stifled the Broncs on three-straight possessions down the stretch, while knocking down four free throws on the offensive end.
Fueled by Warley's strong post play, Manhattan posted a dominating 40-25 margin on the glass, including 15-7 on the offensive end that led to a 13-4 advantage in second-chance points.
Junior
Dee Dee Davis (Bronx, NY / Truman) added 11 points and five rebounds, while graduate student
Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) added 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals to round out the double-digit performers for the Jaspers.
The Green & White will look to make it two in a row against Rider on Saturday at 7:00 pm on
ESPN+.

* Rider would rally and took a 25-20 lead with 3:47 to play until halftime, only to see the visitors respond with a half-ending 9-0 spurt that was keyed by four points from Warley.
* Fueled by a 10-0 run, Manhattan transformed it's four-point halftime advantage into a 15-point cushion at 43-28 with 2:18 to play in the third quarter.
* All told, the Jaspers ripped off a game-changing 23-3 run over 10:33 that bridged the second and third quarters.
* The lead would grow to 16 in the fourth quarter, before the Broncs trimmed the Manhattan lead to one with 1:21 remaining.
* Warley's nine rebounds give her an even 700 for her career, and puts her all alone at ninth place in the all-time Jasper annals.
* She also joins former teammate
Kayla Grimme as the players in program history with 700 caroms and 100 rejections.
* Miceus pulled down seven rebounds with four points and one blocked shot. She is now all alone in 10th place in the Jasper annals with 72 rejections.
* Mäkelä had five points in 25 solid minutes off the bench.
