Box Score (PDF)

Lawrenceville, NJ -
Senior Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) scored 19 points with nine rebounds, four steals and a block to power Manhattan past Rider 56-51 in the MAAC opener for each team at Alumni Gymnasium.

Leading by one with 1:21 remaining, the Jasper defense stifled the Broncs on three-straight possessions down the stretch, while knocking down four free throws on the offensive end.

Fueled by Warley's strong post play, Manhattan posted a dominating 40-25 margin on the glass, including 15-7 on the offensive end that led to a 13-4 advantage in second-chance points.

Junior Dee Dee Davis (Bronx, NY / Truman) added 11 points and five rebounds, while graduate student Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) added 10 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals to round out the double-digit performers for the Jaspers.

The Green & White will look to make it two in a row against Rider on Saturday at 7:00 pm on ESPN+.

Notes
* Manhattan opened the game with a 12-2 run, including 10-straight, as sophomore Emily LaPointe (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Academy), Warley, Cajou, senior Sini Mäkelä (Helsinki, Finland/Mäkelänrinne Sports High), Davis and graduate student Pamela Miceus (Haverstraw, NY / North Rockland) all contributed.

* Rider would rally and took a 25-20 lead with 3:47 to play until halftime, only to see the visitors respond with a half-ending 9-0 spurt that was keyed by four points from Warley.

* Fueled by a 10-0 run, Manhattan transformed it's four-point halftime advantage into a 15-point cushion at 43-28 with 2:18 to play in the third quarter.

* All told, the Jaspers ripped off a game-changing 23-3 run over 10:33 that bridged the second and third quarters.

* The lead would grow to 16 in the fourth quarter, before the Broncs trimmed the Manhattan lead to one with 1:21 remaining.

* Warley's nine rebounds give her an even 700 for her career, and puts her all alone at ninth place in the all-time Jasper annals.

* She also joins former teammate Kayla Grimme as the players in program history with 700 caroms and 100 rejections.

* Miceus pulled down seven rebounds with four points and one blocked shot. She is now all alone in 10th place in the Jasper annals with 72 rejections.

* Mäkelä had five points in 25 solid minutes off the bench.

* Makayla Firebaugh (17 points) and Amanda Mobley (10 points) led the way for Rider.
