Jersey City, NJ - Sophomore
Elijah Buchanan (Bronx, NY / Woodstock Academy) scored a game-high 16 points, but it wasn't enough as Manhattan dropped a 70-53 decision at Saint Peter's.
The Peacocks are now 9-10 and 6-4 in the MAAC, while the Jaspers fall to 8-10 and 4-5 in the league.
Saint Peter's took a 34-18 lead into the break thanks to forcing 15 first-half turnovers, while posting an 18-4 run to end the stanza.
After intermission, senior
Pauly Paulicap (Elmont, NY / Harcum College) hit a layup and classmate
Tyler Reynolds (Syracuse, NY / Harcum College) a three pointer to bring Manhattan to within 11 at 34-23 with 19:23 remaining in the game.
Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Jaspers would get as the Peacocks would answer with nine-straight points.
In defeat, Manhattan posted a 46-33 advantage on the glass, including 17-6 on the offensive end.Â
Saint Peter's shot 39.6 percent (21-of-53) from the field, while hitting on a blistering 85.7 percent (24-of-28) from the line.
Paulicap finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, while sophomore
Christian Hinckson (Queens, NY / Tilton School (NH)) had a game-high 10 rebounds and three steals to round out the top individual performers for the Jaspers.
Matthew Lee and Dallas Watson each had 10 points to lead the way for the Peacocks.
Manhattan will next host Iona on Sunday, February 2 at 12:00 pm.
