Manhattan Opens MAAC Play Against Canisius

 Manhattan will return home to host Canisius in the Jaspers' MAAC opener on Saturday, September 28 at 12:00 pm.

Scouting Canisius
* The Golden Griffins are 5-3 and 0-1 in the MAAC, having most recently dropped their league opener to Quinnipiac.
* Luca Fahmer leads Canisius with two goals while Shauna Lee has a goal and two assists.
* In net, Alana Rossi has five shutouts and a sparkling 0.86 GAA.

History With Canisius
* The Golden Griffins lead the all-time series by a 15-10-2 count.
* However, Manhattan holds a 7-5-1 lead when playing at home.
* In the teams' last meeting at Gaelic Park on October 11, 2017, Erica Modena netted a hat trick as the Jaspers posted a rousing 5-0 victory.

Odd Is Good
* Manhattan has gone 4-0-1 at home during MAAC play in each of the last two odd-numbered years (2015, 2017). 

Multi-Goal Montefusco
* Junior Arianna Montefusco scored a pair of goals in the Jaspers' final non-conference match at Merrimack.
* It was Montefusco's third career multi-goal performance with Manhattan, and her first since registering two in a 3-2 win over Quinnipiac in the semifinals of the 2017 MAAC Tournament. 

Montefusco On The Year
* After missing all of last year due to injury, Montefusco has a team-leading nine points (5th MAAC), on the strength of four goals (3rd MAAC) and an assist.
* Montefusco drilled a penalty kick in the opener against Hartford, before blasting in the lone Jasper goal against Stony Brook.
* The Long Island native now has 15 career goals, including converting three penalty kicks.
* Manhattan is 8-3-1 when Montefusco finds the back of the net and 11-4-1 when she notches a point.
* She earned All-MAAC Second Team and All-Tournament Team honors in 2017.

DeLeo Finds The Back Of The Net
* Junior Bri DeLeo notched her first goal of the year and the fourth of her career at Merrimack.
* DeLeo's first career goal came against Canisius in the aforementioned 5-0 win.

I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends
* Junior Gemma Perez and freshman Kaitlyn Cooke each collected their first career assists against Merrimack.

Against St. Francis Brooklyn ...
* Junior Tia Painilainen's blast in the 87th minute, which also was her second career goal, lifted the Jaspers to a 1-0 victory over the Terriers.
* Montefusco assisted on the score and has had a hand in all three Manhattan scores (2 goals, 1 assist) this year.
* Senior Camryn Nici made two saves in collecting her third career shutout victory.
* The Jaspers posted advantages in shots (21-5), shots on goal (12-2) and corner kicks (5-0).

Nici In Net
* Nici has notched double-figures in saves twice this year, highlighted by a career-high 13 at Binghamton.
* At Hartford, she also denied a Hawk scoring opportunity on a penalty kick.

Montgomery Picks Up First Assist
* Sophomore Eve Montgomery  earned his first collegiate against Stony Brook.
