Last Time Out: Rutgers scored in the waning moments of the second half to earn a 1-0 victory over Manhattan on Saturday night at Yurcak Field. Senior Marcellin Gohier made a season high nine saves in the loss.
Two Out of Three: Gohier was selected as the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season following his nine-save performance against Big Ten foe Rutgers. Gohier earned the award the sixth time in his standout career, as the nine saves were the second most in Gohier's career at Manhattan, just one off a 10-save outing in a win over Marist on September 30, 2017.
Testing Yourself: The combined record so far of Manhattan's first five non-conference opponents is 17-5-1. In addition, four of the Jaspers six non-conference opponents of the season are all ranked in the major college soccer polls. Lehigh is ranked second in the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region poll. St. John's is currently marked 16th in the country at 5-0 by Top Drawer Soccer, while Rutgers entered the poll at No. 25 this week. St. Francis of Brooklyn is also ranked 10tj in the United Soccer Coaches Northeast Region poll. The only non-conference opponents not currently ranked in the polls is Battle of Bronx rival Fordham and UConn, who fell from the national polls following a loss to Georgetown.
Series History: The Huskies have won both of the previous meetings that occurred in 2010 and 2011. The Jaspers are 2-4-1 since 2008 against St. Francis of Brooklyn, but have won two of the last three meetings, including a 2-0 win in 2018.
Scouting Opponents:
- UConn: Is coming off a 4-1 loss to Georgetown. The Huskies are 2-3 on the season but entered the season ranked 25th by College Soccer News.
- Ray Reid leads the Huskies in his 23rd season as the head coach. A four-time National Coach of the Year and National Champion, Reid boasts the second-highest winning percentage (.742) among active coaches.
- Jordan Hall leads the way with six goals on the season, tied for the fifth most in the country. Dayonn Harris is tied for third in the country with five assists.
- St. Francis of Brooklyn: Fell to Saint Peter's 1-0 on Saturday and currently sit at 2-1-1.
- Four different goal scorers have netted one goal each for St. Francis Brooklyn this season.
