Chattanooga (4-5) took the first match in five, winning 22-25, 22-25, 25-17, 25-23, 15-12. Tennessee Tech (2-7) swept the second match, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22.
Highlights:
- Menocal compiled 21 kills over eight sets, including a team-high 11 against Tennessee Tech and another team-high of 10 against Chattanooga.
- Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) tallied four blocks against Chattanooga, adding nine kills.
- Abby Wilde (Parkesburg, PA / Octorora) snagged a double-double against Chattanooga, with 42 assists and 13 digs. Libero Nasally Eleutiza (Orlando, FL / Monroe) and defensive specialist Katelynn Riner (Kennesaw, GA / Georgia Southern) each added 10 digs in the match.
- Wilde earned 33 assists against Tennessee Tech, averaging 11 assists per set.
- Freshman Lizzi Brown (Orlando, FL / Bishop Moore) combined for six service aces over the two matches, including four against Chattanooga.
- Returning from injury, MAAC All-Rookie Team selection Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) played in three sets across the two matches Saturday, getting two kills per set and adding two blocks on the day.
- Manhattan led the blocking column in both matches, holding an 8-5 advantage over Chattanooga and out-blocking Tennessee Tech 5-1.
Manhattan will play its first home match of the 2019 season against Fordham in the 2019 Battle of the Bronx on September 18. The first serve will be sent at 7:00 p.m. in Draddy.
