Eric Waugh (Wheatley Heights, NY / Half Hollow Hills West) placed 44th in the men's discus throw at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Regionals Friday in Jacksonville, FL.
Waugh hit a distance of 47.82 meters, improving on his bronze-medal winning 47.42 meter throw at the MAAC Championships.
Clemson's Roje Stona won the East Region with a throw of 61.36 meters. He and the next 11 competitors will move on the to the NCAA Championships starting June 5 in Austin, TX.
Waugh qualified for regionals after finishing the season at 46th in the east for the discus, hitting 52.52 meters at the Monmouth Season Opener on March 29. The performance marked a career high for Waugh, who also finished eighth in the event at IC4As.
