Enrique Martinez (San Salvador, El Salvador / Barton CC) placed 36th overall in the men's hammer throw at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field East Regionals Thursday, May 23.
In the first flight of the day, Martinez hit 56.09 meters in his second throw of the competition. He entered regionals ranked 39th in the east after hitting 60.10 meters during the season.
Virginia's Hilmar Orn Jonsson won Thursday's competition with a mark of 72.17 meters. He and the next 11 competitors qualified to move on to the NCAA Championships in Austin, TX.
Martinez finishes the season as the MAAC and Metropolitan hammer throw champion. He also placed eighth in the event at IC4As earlier this month.
Eric Waugh (Wheatley Heights, NY / Half Hollow Hills West) will continue competition for the Jaspers on Friday, competing in the men's discus throw at 4:00 p.m.
Ryan Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) will follow on Saturday in the men's shot put at 2:45 p.m.
