Williamsburg, VA - Manhattan's women's 4x400 relay team took home first place at the 2019 Colonial Relays Saturday, beating out 20 other teams for the win.
Zarah Harris (Montgomery, NY / Valley Central),
Niasia Boone (Morrisville, PA / Pennsbury),
Chinelo Nnakwe (Central Islip, NY / St. Anthony's) and
Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma / Hauppauge) finished the race in 3:45.37, an ECAC Championships-qualifying time.
Highlights:
- Also down in Virginia, teammate Alexandra Preckajlo (Ocean, NJ / St. Rose) won third in the women's discus throw (championship level). Having already qualified for the ECACs last week at Monmouth, she hit above the standard again Saturday with a distance of 43.99 meters.
- Lasma Padedze (Ogre, Latvia / Ogre Secondary School No. 1) earned third place in the discus, university level, with a distance of 38.89 meters. She garnered 11th place in the shot put, as well, hitting 12.61 meters.Â
- Senior Chris Woodhouse (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Technical) hit 4.38 meters in the men's pole vault on Saturday, earning sixth place.Â
- Manhattan's men's 4x400 relay team nabbed seventh place with a time of 3:16.78. Kyle Watkins (Coram, NY / Longwood), Jordan Greene (Boston, NY / Newton North), Alexander (A.J.) Moore (Colonia, NJ / John F. Kennedy) and Will Stallings (Sleepy Hollow, NY / Sleepy Hollow) qualified for the IC4A Championships.Â
- The men's DMR squad also took home a top 10 finish, securing ninth place with a time of 10:19.82. The all-freshmen team included David Lozipone (Massapequa Park, NY / Kellenberg Memorial), Michael Crorkin (Bronx, NY / Xavier), Marc Carrera (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's) and Ryan Tierney (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's).
- Many Jaspers also took up Saturday competition at the Sam Howell Invitational, hosted by Princeton. Freshman Nina Bjorkman (Vasteras, Sweden / Widenska Idrottsgymnasium) won third in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 54.54 meters.
- In the men's shot put, Anu Awonusi (Dublin, Ireland / Kilkenny College) earned fifth place with a throw of 17.11 meters. Teammate Ryan Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) finished seventh in the event, hitting 16.79 meters.Â
- Senior Eric Waugh (Wheatley Heights, NY / Half Hollow Hills West) placed seventh in the men's discus, reaching 48.09 meters.Â
- In the hammer throw, Enrique Martinez (San Salvador, El Salvador / Barton CC) garnered fifth place with a 60.10-meter throw, a personal best and well over the IC4A standard. Teammate Nicholas Kocienda (Seaford, NY / Seaford) placed 10th with a throw of 56.34 meters.
