Box Score (PDF)

Staten Island, NY -
Wagner held off Manhattan by a 3-2 count in non-conference action at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

The Jaspers fall to 15-26 while the Seahawks improve to 15-21.

Wagner opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the fifth, before Manhattan immediately answered with a run of its own in the top of the sixth.

Freshman Jonathan Barditch (Miami, FL / Belen Jesuit Prep) led off the frame with a single through the left side, before moving to second on a Sam Franco (Fr., Bardonia, NY / Clarkstown South) sacrifice bunt. Barditch then took third on a wild pitch and would come around to score on sophomore Matt Padre's (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) RBI ground out.

The Seahawks would go in front 3-1 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth, and appeared poised to close out the victory after quickly securing the first two outs in the top of the ninth.

However, the Jaspers would not go down quietly as junior Alex Cerda (Miami, FL / Florida Christian School) was plunked, before moving to third on a David Moffett (Fr., Oneida, NY / Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Senior) single. Cerda then scampered home on a wild pitch, while pinch-runner graduate student Cam Crabbe (White Plains, NY / USF) moved to second. Unfortunately, that would be as close as Manhattan would get as RHP Nick Robino got the final out to secure the win.

Freshman Nick Cimillo (Airmont, NY / Suffern) paced a six-hit Jasper attack, going 2-for-4 .

Sophomore RHP Teddy Sabato (Rye Brook, NY / UNC) was impressive on the mound, striking out five over 3.0 scoreless innings of two-hit ball.

WIll Johnson had two hits to help make a winner out RHP Ryan Lauk (2-3).

Manhattan will next be in action at Monmouth on Saturday, April 27 at 12:00 pm.
