Manhattan Advances To MAAC Quarterfinals

Albany, NY - Manhattan women's basketball defeated #11 Saint Peter's 62-41 on Thursday, March 7 to move on to the quarterfinals of the 2019 MAAC Tournament.

The sixth-seeded Jaspers will face #3 Marist on Saturday at noon on ESPN3.

Highlights:
  • Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) led the way on offense for Manhattan, scoring a game-high 16 points and nabbing nine rebounds on her way to being named the Geico Player of the Game.
  • Warley shot more than 57 percent for the day. Her nine boards came all on the defensive end, and she added three assists and four blocks to her stat line.
  • Warley's four blocks give her 83 for her career, ranking her in sixth place in program history. Already third on the Jaspers' single season offensive rebound list with 116, she is one defensive board away from that top 10 list. Her 271 total rebounds this year place her at eighth in a single-season.
  • Also scoring in double-figures for Manhattan, Pamela Miceus (Haverstraw, NY / North Rockland) put in a career-high 10, her first double-figure scoring game of her career. Miceus scored eight of her point total in the first quarter, helping the Js break out to an early 15-12 lead. Miceus added five rebounds, a block and a steal.
  • Lynette Taitt (Irvington, NJ / Bishop Loughlin) scored 10 points for Manhattan, as well. Taitt went 4-6 from the floor, while collecting six defensive rebounds. She added three assists.
  • The Jaspers shot 49.1 percent as a team Thursday afternoon, the best shooting percentage of the season for the Js. They went 7-10 in the third quarter, hitting two threes, and led by as many as 27 in the game with 2:10 left to play.
  • Manhattan secured 33 defensive rebounds against the Peacocks, earning a 13-board advantage on the defensive glass. Manhattan won the battle in the paint as well, scoring 32 points to Saint Peter's 14.
  • The Jaspers held the Peacocks to 25 percent shooting on the day, including just two field goals in a 19-7 second period that blew the game open for Manhattan.
  • This was the third win for the Jaspers over Saint Peter's. They went 3-0 against the Peacocks this season.
