Manhattan To Host NJIT On Senior Day

 Manhattan (4-5; 1-2 MAAC) will host NJIT (1-9) on Senior Day at Gaelic Park on Saturday, March 30 at 1:00 pm. 

Thank You Seniors
* Prior to the NJIT game, seniors Christian Baldi, Robert Carroll, Sam Crutchfield, Daniel DelBene, Dylan DeMuro, John Fredette, Parker Giarratana, Troy Golding, Cole Johnson and William Ratchford will be recognized for their service and dedication to the program.

The Tick Tock
* The Jaspers dropped a 6-5 heartbreaker to Marist last week.
* Sophomore Brendan Krebs was outstanding in goal, making a career-high 17 saves while posting a career-best .739 save percentage.
* Giarratana had two goals while junior Luke Hanson, classmate Trevor Pelletier and freshman Tadhg O'Riordan each notched one score.

Balance
* Giarratana (11 goals), Hanson (10 goals) junior Brandon Grinnell (10 goals), sophomore Sean MacKinney (10 goals) and Pelletier (9 goals) have combined for 64.1 percent of the Jaspers' scoring (50-of-78).  

In The Rankings
* Giarratana is now third in school history with 94 career goals and fourth with 55 career assists and 149 career points.
* The Sunshine State native also has four five-goal performances, three four-score outings and eight hat tricks.

Cool Hand Luke
* Hanson registered two assists at Siena and has now recorded multiple assists six times on the year.

Goalie Goal!
* Krebs scored his first career goal at Siena with an impressive 60-yard shot and had 15 saves between the pipes.

NCAA Recognition
* Krebs' goal was lauded by the NCAA as the fourth-best play of the week, while marking the third time that a Jasper has been recognized, joining Giarratana (Wagner) and MacKinney (Bryant).

* One year after pacing the Division I ranks in man-down defense, Manhattan is back at it again and ranks second nationally at 85.0 percent, killing off 17-of-20 EMO opportunities.
* The Jaspers are third nationally in clearing the ball, checking with an 89.9 percent success rate.
* Manhattan is 16th with 13.2 saves per game and are yielding just 10.0 goals per game (18th).

Lending A Helping Hand
* Hanson ranks 16th nationally with 2.22 assists per game (2nd MAAC).
* He now ranks seventh in program history with 47 career assists.
* His 20 assists are also just seven off the single-season record of 27 held by Nick Silva.

Between The Pipes
* Krebs is among the national leaders in save percentage (.569-11th), saves (13.2/game-12th) and GAA (10.01-22nd).

The Series
* Manhattan leads the all-time series by a 4-0 count, outscoring NJIT by 42-22 count.

Last Year Against NJIT
* The Jaspers posted a 14-6 come-from-behind win over the Highlanders thanks to four goals and three assists from Hanson.
* Grinnell and CJ Scharf each also registered hat tricks.

Scouting NJIT
* The Highlanders are led by by the trio of Aaron Forster (20 goals, 9 assists), Ryan Darrow (18 goals, 6 assists) and Colin Fogerty (12 goals, 9 assists).
* Alexzander Hunt is averaging 15.8 saves per game while posting an impressive .525 save percentage.

Manhattan Topples Hartford
* Manhattan collected an impressive 11-8 win over Hartford as Grinnell and Pelletier each netted hat tricks in the victory over the Hawks.
* Krebs made a career-high 16 saves while yielding just eight goals for the second-straight game in moving to 4-2.
* Senior Robert Carroll was 15-for-21 from the faceoff X with six ground balls.

Jaspers Take Down Bryant
* Manhattan earned its first-ever win over Bryant by a 9-8 count, while rallying from deficits of four goals in the second and two in the fourth.
* The Bulldogs had outscored the Jaspers 48-20 in three previous match-ups, including posting a 17-3 win in Head Coach Drew Kelleher's first game in 2016.
* Hanson handed out a career-high four assists, including aiding on the game-winner, with one goal.
* Over the final 5:05, the defense yielded just one shot attempt and forced five turnovers to clinch the win.
* Hanson also added a career-high seven ground balls.
* Manhattan ripped off five-straight goals in 11-plus minutes, which bridged the end of the second quarter and the beginning of third. 
* Grinnell added two goals and two assists while Pelletier also had a pair of scores to round out the multi-goal performers.
* The Jaspers forced 22 turnovers, killed off both Bulldog extra-man opportunities and held the Bulldogs to just 3-for-7 on fourth-quarter clear attempts.
* Junior Kelson Borisenko paced the defense with three ground balls while also causing four turnovers.
* Krebs made eight saves in earning his third win.

Manhattan Defeats SBU In MAAC Lidlifter
* The Jaspers opened league play with a 15-12 win over the Bonnies thanks to a balanced attack that featured nine different goal scorers.
* The 15 goals represent the most since a 20-5 win over Wagner on April 3, 2012.
* MacKinney scored a team-high three goals with two assists in the win over St. Bonaventure after recording two scores and an assist against Lafayette.
* Carroll was 20-for-29 from the faceoff X with a career-high 13 ground balls against the Bonnies while Krebs made six of his nine saves in the fourth quarter.
* Freshman Liam Walshe scored the first two goals of his Manhattan career.
* It was also the Jaspers' first league-opening victory since besting VMI on March 26, 2011.

Giarratana Named MAAC Offensive Player Of The Week
* Giarratana collected MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, after leading the Jaspers to an 11-10 season-opening win against Wagner. He earned the award after scoring four goals with two assists and five ground balls.

Krebs Named MAAC Defensive Player Of The Week
* Krebs made his first career victory a memorable one, turning away 13 saves in the Jaspers aforementioned victory over Wagner. The second-year netminder also collected four ground balls in posting a .565 save percentage.

For Starters
* Manhattan's victory over Wagner represented just the fourth time in program history that the Jaspers won their season opener.

The Faceoff X
* Carroll is now 93-for-184 (.505) on faceoffs with a team-leading 38 ground balls.

The Returners 
* The Jaspers boast a roster of 42 student-athletes, including 33 returning letterwinners and nine starters in 2019.

Parker Garners Preseason All-MAAC Accolades
* Giarratana was cited by Inside Lacrosse and the MAAC as a preseason all-league selection.

* A two-time All-MAAC Second Team honoree, the Sunshine State native registered 23 goals, a career-high 23 assists and a personal-best 46 points in 2018.
* His 1.64 assists per game ranked fourth in the MAAC, while his 23 assists are the most by a Manhattan student-athlete since Eugene Tanner in 2005, and tied for the sixth-most in a single season.

* Kelleher welcomes nine student-athletes into the program in 2019. 

Otto/2002 Team Honored
* Justin Otto '06 was inducted into the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame this past November, while the 2002 MAAC Championship team earned special recognition.
