Game 1: Manhattan 5, Maine 1
- Jessie Rising (Little Egg Harbor, NJ / Pinelands) pitched a complete 7.0 innings for Manhattan, letting up just three hits to the Black Bears and striking out seven. She faced just 27 batters in the game. The freshman pitcher is now 3-3 this year.
- Rising's classmate, Annie Moore (Northridge, CA / El Camino Real) picked up a game-high three RBI against Maine, snagging a three-run double in the third that put the Jaspers up 3-1.
- Moore would come up big again in the fourth, reaching base on an error and then advancing to second on the throw, allowing teammate Lauren Pitney (Ansonia, CT / St. Joseph's) to score another run for Manhattan.
- Adriana Gambino (Stamford, CT / Westhill) picked up the Jaspers' other double in the game, while Kat Prevo (San Diego, CA / Our Lady of Peace) earned an RBI for Manhattan in the sixth on a single to left field that put the Jaspers ahead 5-1.
- Moore fired early for Manhattan, sending a double to right center for an RBI in the top of the first. The next batter, Daniela Chiorazzi (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) made it back-to-back doubles for the Jaspers, scoring Moore and giving Manhattan a 2-0 lead.
- The Hawks responded in the bottom of the second when Emma Curry sent a two-run homer to left field, tying the game.
- Not to be outdone, Chiorazzi sailed a two-run homer of her own over the left field wall in the top of the third to put Manhattan back up 4-2.
- Starting pitcher Kayla McDermott (Garnerville, NY / North Rockland) found herself in trouble in the bottom of the inning with two runners in scoring position and no outs as Hartford's Paige Fedak doubled to right center and tied the game. The Hawks took the lead two batters later, when Kylie Dazalla reached first on a fielder's choice, scoring Fedak.
- Stephanie Kristo (San Jose, CA / Archbishop Mitty) entered the game in relief with an out in the bottom of the third, striking out Curry and forcing the final batter of the inning to ground out to third.
- Megan Gillooley (Clifton Park, NY / Shenendehow) singled to left field in the top of fourth. Pitney and Christine Gebhardt (Middletown, NJ / Middletown North) both then walked to load the bases. But Moore would ground into a force out at second base, leaving three Jasper runners stranded in the top of the fourth.
- Kristo would give up just one hit over the next three innings, keeping the Jaspers within one run of the Hawks. She struck out five in 12 at bats, walking none.
- The Jaspers got the offense going in the seventh, putting two runners in scoring position with two outs. But Manhattan was unable to convert the base runners to runs, as Dominique Palagruto (Sewell, NJ / Washington Township) lined out to left field to end the game.
- McDermott (2-5) picked up with loss for Manhattan.
The Jaspers return to the field Wednesday, March 27 at Wagner in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm.
