Chris Woodhouse (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Technical) won the men's pole vault at the VCU Ram Invite Saturday, March 23. Woodhouse, a senior, hit a height of 4.20 meters, finishing in first by .90 meters.Â
Highlights:
- The win marks the second for the Jaspers at VCU. Senior Amir Khaghani (Bethesda, MD / Walt Whitman) finished first in the men's 5,000-meters on Friday with a time of 15:02.24.
- Gianna Tinto (Kings Park, NY / Smithtown West) earned a personal best in the women's 1,500-meters, finishing at 4:58.30. She beat her previous personal best by .47 seconds, earning 10th overall. Teammate Sam Hoagland (Colts Neck, NJ / Colts Neck) finished 16th in the race, hitting a time of 5:07.56.
- Ryan Tierney (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's) earned a top three time in the men's 1,500-meters, recording 4:02.44 in his first collegiate outdoor race. Classmate David Lozipone (Massapequa Park, NY / Kellenberg Memorial) placed 10th in the race with a time of 4:11.77, while Adam Alshoubeki (Monroe, NY / Monroe-Woodbury) finished in 14th with a time of 4:17.70.
- Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma, NY / Hauppauge) finished the women's 400-meters in 57.15, good for a second place performance. Teammate Zarah Harris (Montgomery, NY / Valley Central) placed 13th, recording a time of 1:00.31, an outdoor personal best.Â
- Niasia Boone (Morrisville, PA / Pennsbury) earned third place in the women's 200-meters on Saturday, recording a time of 25.19.Â
- In the men's 400-meters, Seth Goitia (New Windsor, NY / Cornwall Central) placed seventh, hitting a time of 50.74. Jordan Greene (Boston, MA / Newton North) finished the race in 12th with a time of 51.29, a career-best for the outdoor season.
- Gotia and Greene also competed in the men's 200-meter race. Goitia earned 16th with a time of 23.17, while Greene placed 18th in 23.21.
- After placing third in the women's 400-meter hurdles on Friday, Kathleen Cibuls (Blue Point, NY / Bayport-Blue Point) finished in the top five in the 100-meter hurdles on Saturday, recording a time of 15.08.
- Cristian Forletta (Ronkonkoma, NY / Connetquot) finished 10th in the men's 110-meter hurdles, earning a time of 15.98.
- Manhattan's women's 4x100 team, made up of Amahri Boyce (Newark, NJ / North Star Academy), Boone, Tiahna Mitchell (Joppa, MD / Harford Technical) and Lisa Warfvinge (Varberg, Sweden / Peder Skrivares School) placed fourth on Saturday, recording a time of 48.59.
- Boyce finished 11th in the women's 100-meter race with a time of 12.43. Mitchell grabbed 25th place, finishing in 12.97.Â
- Larry McCullum (Piscataway, NJ / Piscataway) finished just outside the top 10 in the men's 100-meter race with a time of 11.29.
