Amir Khaghani (Bethesda, MD / Walt Whitman) won the men's 5,000-meter race at the VCU Ram Invite, the Jaspers' first meet of the 2019 outdoor season, on Friday, March 22. Khaghani recorded a time of 15:02.24, more than a minute faster than his closest competitor.Â
Highlights:
- Christian McLaughlin (Allenhurst, NJ / Christian Brothers Academy) placed fourth in the 5000-meters, recording a time of 15:15.61. Teammate Nick Matson (Clifton Park, NY / Shenendehowa) came in sixth with a time of 15:36.83, his first outdoor 5000-meters finish of his college career.Â
- Kathleen Cibuls (Blue Point, NY / Bayport-Blue Point) nabbed third in the women's 400-meter hurdles Friday, hitting a time of 1:05.11. Kim Jelich (Malverne, NY / Valley Stream North) finished 12th in the event with a time of 1:12.16.Â
- Freshman Lisa Warfvinge (Varberg, Sweden / Peder Skrivares School) earned fourth place in the women's long jump. In her first collegiate outdoor competition, she hit a distance of 5.39 meters.Â
