Manhattan 6, Saint Mary's 4 (8 innings)
- Moore and teammate Dominique Palagruto (Sewell, NJ / Washington Township) earned a team-high two RBI in Sunday's match-up. Palagruto's two came when she doubled to left center in the top of the second to drive in the Jaspers' first two runs of the game.
- Moore picked up one of her RBI in the second as well, helping the Jaspers jump out to a 4-0 lead over Saint Mary's.
- Starting pitcher Kayla McDermott (Garnerville, NY / North Rockland) held the Gaels to just four hits and one run into the fifth inning. But Saint Mary's was able to tally three runs on three hits in the fifth, tying up the ball game at 4-4.
- Relief pitcher Jessie Rising (Little Egg Harbor, NJ / Pinelands) held the Gaels to two hits in the bottom of the sixth, facing just four batters and keeping Saint Mary's from overtaking the lead. When the Jaspers were unable to score in the top of the seventh, Rising forced the Gaels to go three up, three down in the bottom of the inning, propelling the game into extra innings.
- With just one out, the Jaspers loaded the bases for Moore in the top of the eighth. She singled to right field, advancing all runners and driving in the go-ahead run.
- Up 5-4 two batters later, Daniela Chiorazzi (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) walked with the bases loaded to drive in the the Jaspers their sixth run, giving Manhattan a two-run cushion going into the bottom of the inning.
- The Gaels were able to put two on with two out in the eighth in an attempt to extend the game, but Rising was able to get the final batter to ground out to third base, picking up the win and moving her season record to 2-3.
Manhattan will remain in California to take on San Jose State Tuesday, March 19 in a doubleheader starting at 3:00 pm Eastern/12:00 pm Pacific.
