Landon Taliaferro scored 18 of his game-high 26 points in the first half to stake Fairfield to a 36-22 advantage at the break.
After halftime, the lead would grow to a game-high 21 at 58-37 with 7:31 remaining before freshman
Samir Stewart (Fort Lauderdale, FL / American Heritage) answered with a triple. Stewart's long ball sparked a 12-4 Manhattan spurt that cut the deficit to 62-49 with 5:00 minutes to go while forcing a timeout.
Unfortunately, the Stags would answer on the ensuing possession as the lead wouldn't dip below 12 the rest of the way.
The Jaspers shot a solid 43.8 percent (21-of-48), but was just 31.8 percent (7-of-22) from distance,
Matija Milan joined Taliaferro in double-figures with 14 points.
