Buffalo, NY – With the first two days of the 2019 MAAC Championships in the books, Manhattan Swimming and Diving has seen strong individual performances through the first 14 events of the tournament.
 
Heading into Friday, both teams sit in 10th place, with the men securing 48 points and the women 37.
 
Freshman Kyle Bergin (Lynbrook, NY / Lynbrook Senior) raced the final leg in the 200 Free Relay, hitting the wall in 20.46 seconds, which is .34 seconds quicker than the 50 Free record. The Jaspers notched a season-best 1:24.71 in the event.
 
On the men's portion of the 200 Medley Relay on Wednesday, junior captain Timothy Valentine (Massapequa, NY / Chaminade) raced the 50 Breast in 25.58 seconds, faster than his 50 Breast record, as Manhattan clocked out at 1:34.44, lower than their seed time.
 
That same day, the women's 800 Free Relay, featuring senior Kathryn Voitik (Moscow, PA / Scranton Prep), juniors Kali Nembach (Lynbrook, NY / Lynbrook Senior) and Carolyn Crocker (Broad Channel, NY / Archbishop Molloy) and freshman Sarah Hamilton (Auckland, New Zealand / St. Cuthbert's College) finished in 8:09.20, a shade under 14 seconds faster than this season's best time.

Elsewhere around the pool, freshman diver Lexington Passamonte (Rochester, NY / Greece Athena) increased her preliminary score by over 28 points, recording a 172.55 in the three-meter dive to earn points on Thursday.
 
In his first MAAC Championship, sophomore Artur Polyak (Haifa, Israel / Pittsburgh) reached the 'B' final in the 200 IM, swimming a season-best 1:53.06 in the preliminary round.
