The Manhattan men secured third place as a team Saturday, improving on the program's fifith-place team finish last season.
Meet Highlights:
- Scaglione wasn't the only Jasper woman (or Scaglione!) to make the All-Rookie squad—she was joined by her sister, Nicola Scaglione (Oceanside, NY / Oceanside), who finished 28th overall with a time of 23:17.09. Nicola was the fourth MAAC freshman to cross the finish on Saturday.
- Pelle Nogueira (Glen Head, NJ / TCNJ) was the first Jasper to finish in the men's five-miler, earning a time of 26:20.30, good for 17th overall.
- Noguiera was then joined by a pack of Jaspers, including David Lozipone (Massapequa Park, NY / Kellenberg Memorial), Ryan Tierney (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's) and Michael Hennelly (Suffern, NY / Suffern), who finished 24th, 26th and 27th, respectively. Lozipone earned a time of 26:37.82. Tierney came in at 26:40.66, and Hennelly finished in 26:41.37.
- The fifth scored runner for the Manhattan men was freshman Ryan Lindrud (Basking Ridge, NJ / Ridge), who finished in 33rd with a time of 26:48.71. Lindrud was the 10th MAAC rookie to cross.
- The Jasper men tallied 101 points as a team, finishing behind Iona (15) and Siena (80).
- Rory Graham (Burnt Hills, NY / Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was the third finisher for the Manhattan women, earning 38th overall with a time of 23:36.29. She was the seventh female rookie finisher on Saturday.
- The Manhattan women earned a seventh-place finish in the meet, the same spot the team took home last season. The Jaspers' top five runners combined for 189 points.
- Iona earned its fourth-straight MAAC Women's Cross Country Championship title, paced by Egle Morenaite, the 2019 Women's Most Outstanding Runner, who ran a 21:18.13 over the 6K course.
- The 2019 MAAC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Year was Sammi Ragenklint from Monmouth. Ragenklint finished with a time of 22:12.01 placing seventh overall.
- The Iona men won their 29th-straight championship, claiming the top five finishes and nine of the top 10.
- The Gael's Ehab El-Sandali won the MAAC Men's Cross Country Championship and was named the 2019 Men's Most Outstanding Runner with a time of 25:07.15.
- Iona's Joshua DeSouza was the men's Rookie of the Meet with a time of 25:29.61 (seventh overall).
