Manhattan Defeats Niagara To Clinch Postseason Berth

Riverdale, NY –For the second time in three seasons, the Manhattan Jaspers will play postseason soccer, thanks to a 1-0 win over Niagara on Senior Day at Gaelic Park.

Junior Brandon Joseph-Buadi (Brighton, England / Woodard) tapped in the goal off a beautiful cross from a quickly-taken free kick from senior Callum Carsley (Birmingham, England / Princethorpe College) to give the Jaspers the lead in the 85th minute. 

Joseph-Buadi's score was his third of the season and the second game-winning goal of the year. Senior goalkeeper Marcellin Gohier (Nantes, France / CENS) made three saves to earn the win for the Jaspers.

Manhattan posted advantages in shots (17-12), shots on goal (5-3) and corner kicks (3-1).

With the win, the Jaspers improve to 6-8-0 and 5-4-0 during MAAC play, while Niagara drops to 5-11-1 and 3-5-1 in the league.

Josh Savoni made four saves in net for the Purple Eagle

Manhattan will close out regular-season play at Siena on Wednesday, November 6 at 3:00 pm.
