Loudonville, NY - Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) earned a match-high 19 kills against Siena on Sunday, November 17, helping Manhattan volleyball to a five-set win over the Saints and a season series sweep.
Manhattan finishes the season 8-23 overall and 5-13 in conference play. Siena ends its season 11-18 and 6-12 in the MAAC.
Highlights:
- Manhattan dropped the first set 25-15, before coming back to win the next two 25-20 and 25-15. The Saints forced a fifth set with a 25-22 win in the fourth, before the Jaspers held on for 15-13 victory in the decisive stanza.
- Hoener hit .516 for the day, getting her 19 kills on 31 attempts. She was joined in the attack by Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor), who finished with 16 kills.
- Hoener totaled just two blocks, but finished the season with 114, tying for fifth on the program's single-season blocks list. Hoener's 86 block assists lands her at ninth on the single-season list, and her 28 solo blocks is good for eighth.
- Hoener ends her junior season with 269 career total blocks, placing her at seventh all-time. She has 207 block assists, sitting at seventh all-time in that category, and 62 solo blocks, also good for seventh place.
- Nashally Eleutiza (Orlando, FL / Monroe) earned 29 digs in the match, just two off her career high of 31. Her digs performance at Siena puts her at 502 in her first season at Manhattan, ranking her eighth on the Jaspers' single-season digs list.
- Meagan Miller (Oakville, Ontario / Oakville Trafalgar) finished the match with seven blocks, leading all players. It was the second time this week that Miller tallied seven blocks in a match, first reaching the standard in a five-set win over Rider on Wednesday.
- Donovan added four blocks to the Jaspers' defense, after tallying a career-high six blocks in the Rider match. She also earned a kills-digs double-double, contributing 12 digs.
- Abby Wilde (Parkesberg, PA / Octorora) earned a match-high 35 assists, while Julieanne McKee (Poughkeepsie, NY / Spackenkill) added eight for Manhattan.
- The Jaspers once again held the block advantage in the match, earning 10 team blocks to Siena's five.
- Manhattan was unable to earn one of the top six seeds in the league standings, missing out on the MAAC tournament, which begins Friday, November 22 at Fairfield. The Stags, who went undefeated this season, earned the championships' top seed, with Canisius coming in as the second seed. Rider earned the third seed and Marist is fourth. Niagara and Quinnipiac earned the fifth and sixth seeds, respectively.
