Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY / Bishop Kearney) broke her own school record for the Van Cortlandt Park 5K course as Manhattan College grabbed a top three finish in the 2018 Fordham Fiasco Saturday, September 8. On the men's side, the Jaspers earned a second place team finish behind senior
Chad Maier (Melville, NY / Walt Whitman), who also nabbed second place.
Highlights:
- Fajardo initially broke the school record in 2017, finishing the ECAC Championships with a time of 17:58.9. Saturday, she earned a 17:53.77 finish, knocking approximately five seconds off her record and more than 30 seconds off her 2017 Fordham Fiasco winning time of 18:24.09. Fajardo finished second on Saturday behind Lipscomb's Courtney Brenner (17:48.99).
- Maier finished the men's 8K race in 26:05.60, more than two seconds ahead of third place finisher Lucas Kiprotich of Florida Gulf Coast. Maier's personal best in the 8K is 25:02.8.
- Freshman Hali Ielfield (Glenfield, NY / South Lewis Central) earned a third place finish for her first race as a Jasper. She came in at 18:04.74, giving Manhattan a two-three punch that helped the team secure a third place finish.
- The Manhattan men placed five runners in the top 25. Senior Christian McLaughlin (Allenhurst, NJ / Christian Brothers Academy) placed 12th with a time of 26:38.15, followed by junior Patrick Hennelly (Suffern, NY / Suffern) in 17th at 26.53.30. Freshman Ryan Tierney (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's) nabbed 20th place with a 27:08.93 run, while his classmate Benjamin Otis (Albany, NY / Fayetteville-Manlius) rounded out the top 25 with a time of 27:29.99.
- The Manhattan women placed four in the top 30 on Saturday. Senior Keeley Hogan (Delmar, NY / Bethlehem Central) nabbed 14th place in 19:17.60, while classmate Gianna Tinto (Kings Park, NY / Smithtown West) earned 28th with a time of 20:21.03.
- Lipscomb topped both the men's and women's races, with Princeton earning second place in the women's 5K. Florida Gulf Coast placed third as a team in the men's race.
