The Jaspers improve to a record-setting 6-1 start to the season with their third-straight win. The Hawks drop to 4-3.
After a scoreless first half, Manhattan quickly struck in 53rd minute. A penalty that senior forward Lucas Da Silva (West Palm Beach, FL / Palm Beach Atlantic) drew just outside the box set up sophomore Adrien Awana (Bordeaux, France / University of Bordeaux), who perfectly bent the free kick into the upper left corner of the goal.
In the 75th minute, Manhattan capped the scoring when senior Troy Carrington (Verona, NJ / Syracuse) received a long ball from sophomore Berti Fourrier (Marseille, France / IFC Marseille). On a 1-vs-1 opportunity, Carrington deked the defender before finishing to the lower left corner of the goal to extend the lead to 2-0.
Manhattan will now square off at Gaelic Park with No. 12 Fordham (3-0-2) on Tuesday, September 18 at 7:00 pm in arguably the most highly anticipated 'Battle of the Bronx' in recent memory.

FIRST HALF
- Junior midfielder Milan Devuyst (Ostend, Belgium / ODU) fired the first shot of the game above the crossbar in the fourth minute, after a throw-in from junior captain Tristan Doran (Jupiter, FL / Benjamin)
- Da Silva launched Manhattan's first corner kick in the ninth minute. Freshman defender Simon Busch (Duisburg, Germany) found the loose ball and fired it too far upstairs.
- Junior goalkeeper Marcellin Gohier (Nantes, France) made an impressive opening save in the 18th minute, extending his feet out for a kick-save from David Grana's shot outside the box.
- Saint Joseph's netminder Joseph Boehm made two saves back-to-back in the 26th minute, denying an Awana header and a shot from sophomore forward Brandon Joseph-Buadi (Brighton, England / Woodard)
- In the 34th minute, Joseph-Buadi had a shot blocked, but the rebound trickled to freshman midfielder James Cotter (Wigan, England / Hawkley Hall). Cotter ripped a shot of his own wide left.
SECOND HALF
- Joseph-Buadi darted down the left side in the 62nd minute and sent a cross to his right. Doran met it with a header that Boehm collected by the right post.
- With 10 minutes to play, Saint Joseph's had back-to-back opportunities turned away by the Manhattan defense.
- Four minutes after, the Hawks' Aidan Watkins fired a free kick from 30 yards away that returned to him. He rifled a shot that Gohier nabbed just before it short-hopped him in front.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Jaspers are now 3-0 in the Bronx this season and 10-4 in their last 14 games at Gaelic Park, with nine shutouts in the process.
- Manhattan beats Saint Joseph's for the first time since the 2006 season.
- In the last two Alumni Day games, the Kelly Green and White have won and shut out their opponent.
- Of the Jaspers' 16 goals this year, 12 have come in the second half.
- With 10 total shutouts in his career, Gohier is now in sole possession of second place all-time in program history.
