Riverdale, NY – Fifth-year forward Troy Carrington (Vernona, NJ / Syracuse) and sophomore forward Berti Fourrier (Marseille, France / IFC Marseille) each scored a goal in the second half to lift Manhattan to its third consecutive win, defeating St. Francis Brooklyn 2-0 on Thursday evening at Gaelic Park.
With the victory, the Jaspers improve to 3-0-0 and finish their quick homestand with two victories. The Terriers drop their second straight to move to 1-2-0.
In the 63rd minute, junior midfielder Milan Devuyst (Ostend, Belgium / ODU) fired a long pass from Manhattan's zone to a streaking Carrington down the left side. Carrington shook off a defender and deposited the ball into the top right corner to break the ice.
Less than six minutes later, senior forward Lucas Da Silva (West Palm Beach, FL / Palm Beach Atlantic) flicked a ball at midfield that went through a St. Francis Brooklyn defender's legs. Fourrier read it perfectly, catching up to the ball and deking Terriers goalkeeper Nico Casado to cap the scoring.
Manhattan now begins a three-game road swing on Monday, September 3 at Sacred Heart. The game kicks off at 12:00 pm.
