Jaspers Fall to Red Storm

Queens, NY - Manhattan volleyball dropped its first match of the 2018 season 3-0 to St. John's August 24 on the road. In the second day of the Red Storm's Jack Kaiser Classic, the Jaspers will take on both Central Connecticut State and Eastern Michigan Saturday starting at 10:00 am. 

Notes:

• The Jaspers dropped three sets to the Red Storm, 25-8, 25-8 and 25-7.
• Manhattan started two freshman in the season opener: outside hitter Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) and setter Shruti Mangipudi (San Ramon, CA / Dougherty Valley). Donovan finished the match second on the team with three kills. Mangipudi led the Jaspers with 10 assists.
• Senior hitter Olyvia Chaltas (Temecula, CA / Great Oak) earned a team-high four kills.
• Senior libero Alyssa Reher (Lorton, VA / South County) led the team with 12 digs, bringing her career total to 1,060. 
• The Jaspers tallied 19 attack errors to St. John's two. However, Manhattan committed just three service errors for the match. 
• The Red Storm earned a combined team hitting percentage of .500. 
• St. John's Erica Di Maulo totaled 19 of the Johnnies' 33 assists, while Hanna Wagner led the team with 11 kills in 14 attempts (.786).
