Boston, MA -
Twenty-seven Manhattan men's and women's track and field athletes competed in 14 events this past weekend at the 2018 ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships in Boston, MA. The Jaspers totaled five top five finishes, with sophomore Brenton Foster (Townsvile, Australia / William Ross) taking home the top prize in the high jump.

Foster cleared 2.10 meters on his second attempt to win the event on the second day of competition, besting 12 other athletes. In just a week, Foster will head to College Station, TX to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships, the only Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) male field athlete to qualify for the national championships. He set the school record in the high jump this past December with a height of 2.24 meters.

Freshman Eduard Winner (Tel Aviv, Israel) also earned high marks in the IC4As, taking second in the pole vault with a personal best height of 5.05 meters. Winner won the event with a 4.65-meter height at the MAAC Indoor Championships in February.

Rounding out the best performances from the men's field athletes, junior Ryan Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) placed fifth out of 25 in the shot put, throwing a distance of 17.01 meters.

On the track, junior Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY / Bishop Kearney) earned a fourth place finish in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 16:45.66, just 3.66 seconds more than her school-record time of 16:42.00 set in February. This indoor season, Fajardo also set an individual school record in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 9:39.00.

Senior Charlene Pohl (Bisingen, Germany / Gymnasium Balingen) placed fifth in the long jump with a 5.67-meter distance.

As a team, the Manhattan men placed in the top third of 36 teams, earning a 12th-place finish with 20.33 points. The team beat out five other MAAC schools, including Iona, Marist, Canisius, Rider, and Siena. The women placed 24th out of 44 total teams with a score of 12.
