Buffalo, NY – The Manhattan College men's and women's swimming and diving teams shattered 22 school records across 15 events as they concluded the 2018 MAAC Championships.

"This was a fantastic showing for both of our programs," said Head Coach Molly Belk. "Our teams competed hard in each event, and we were able to set a lot of school records.  I'm proud of the way our swimmers competed."

The 22 records improve over the 12 records Manhattan set back in the 2017 MAAC Championships.

Day Four saw the final two records fall. In the men's 1650 Freestyle, junior Evan Battisti (East Meadow, NY / East Meadow) destroyed his own record with a time of 16:23.90, almost nine seconds faster than his previous mark. He earned an 11th-place finish with his time.

On the women's side, seniors Alexandra Hutzler (Miller Place, NY / Miller Place) and Audrey Corcoran (West Boylston, MA / West Boylston), as well as junior Morgan Fountain (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) and sophomore Kali Nembach (Lynbrook, NY / Lynbrook) competed in the 400 Freestyle Relay. The quartet finished three-hundredths ahead of the program record to set a new low of 3:41.34.

All in all, the women's team finished with 151 points, while the men's side earned 150 points.

As the Jaspers conclude their 2017-2018 seasons, six seniors will graduate from the program. Amongst the fold includes Hutzler, who leaves as one of the most decorated swimmers in Manhattan history. The Long Islander is responsible for setting 12 Manhattan records at the time of her departure. Corcoran and Eileen Blood (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan) graduate from the women's squad.

On the men's team, captains Tyler McCloskey (Orangeburg, NY / Tappan Zee) and Mitchell Rifkind (New Paltz, NY / New Paltz) will graduate from Manhattan College. McCloskey was one of the highest point scorers on the men's team this year. Brandon Shields (Stony Point, NY / George Mason), who at one point held the 500 Freestyle record, will also graduate.

"We will graduate a talented group of seniors from both teams," said Belk. "While it will be difficult to replace them, we have a very talented group for next season. I am confident that we are building a solid foundation for success here at Manhattan."
