Detroit (2-4) secured its second win of the young season, while the Jaspers fall to 1-4 on the year.
Highlights:
- Menna's game-high 12 boards paced the Jaspers on the glass, besting her previous career-high of seven rebounds set against LIU Brooklyn on November 6. She added two steals on the day, another career-high, in a personal best 37-minutes played.
- Sophomore Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) led Manhattan on the scoring end with 12 points, her third double-figure scoring game of the season and the second time this year she has led the Jaspers offensively. Candela Abejón (Gijon, Spain / USC) added 11 points for Manhattan, besting her season-high of nine scored at St. Francis Brooklyn on November 10. She added two assists, two steals, and a game-high two blocks for the Jaspers.
- Junior point guard Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) passed for seven assists on the afternoon, a game-high.
- Manhattan opened the game with a 19-8 lead over the Titans, but were held to just 12 points in the second quarter, while Detroit Mercy was able to total 22 in the period. The Jaspers went into the locker room at the half up 31-30.
- The contest remained close in the third, with the Jaspers holding the advantage on a 16-14 period. But the Titans were able to hold Manhattan to just nine points in the final 10 minutes, while scoring 14 of their own to take the two-point game. The Jaspers shot just 21.4 percent in the fourth, going 3-14 from the floor.
- Manhattan out-rebounded Detroit Mercy 37-29, including a 15-8 advantage on the offensive boards. But the Jaspers and Titans were even for points in the paint at 26-26.
- Manhattan was also able to convert off the Titans' 26 turnovers, earning 33 points off turnovers on the night, however, Detroit Mercy was able to defend the Jaspers' transition offense, giving Manhattan just four fast break points in the game.
- The Jaspers held the lead for more than 31 minutes Saturday, and were up by as many as 11 in the first quarter. The lead changed four times in the game, with four ties down the stretch.
