The Jaspers will take on the Golden Griffins Saturday at 1:00 pm, followed up with a contest against the Purple Eagles on Sunday, also at 1:00 pm.
Match Notes:
- Manhattan (4-20, 2-9 MAAC) faces rematches with both Canisius and Niagara, having played both earlier in the season at Draddy Gymnasium. The Jaspers took the Golden Griffs and Purple Eagles to four sets, ultimately losing each match.
- Freshman Manhattan hitter Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) posted what was then a career-high 12 kills against Niagara in the teams' first meeting on September 29, also earning a team-high 17 points. The match saw 17 tied scores, including the first set where the score was tied a total of 15 times with five lead changes.
- Against Canisius the next day, Manhattan played the league's longest set of the season, winning a 37-35 marathon. Unfortunately, the big opening victory was the Jaspers' only one of the afternoon, as Manhattan ultimately fell to the Griffs.
- Donovan tallied 11 kills against the Griffs, including eight in the first set, while fellow freshman Julia Menocal (Bronx, NY / Preston) also sparked the offense with a career-high 10 kills on .280 hitting. Menocal added three blocks, as well, tying her career-high first earned against Eastern Michigan on August 25. Kenza Hall (Oakland, CA / Middle Tennessee State) posted six blocks in the match, a season-best.
- Manhattan has gone 4-3 since then, beating Siena and Quinnipiac in the MAAC, as well as non-conference opponents St. Francis Brooklyn and NJIT.
- Canisius (12-10, 10-3 MAAC) sits at second in the MAAC, just behind Iona at 11-1. The Griffs have won three in a row, defeating Niagara, Siena, and Marist.
- Niagara (8-14, 8-5) is fifth in the league with a two-win streak, beating Marist and Siena.
- Sophomore middle blocker Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) continues to lead Manhattan's defense at the net, with 64 blocks in 77 sets played, good for eighth in the MAAC.
- Against NJIT on October 17, Hoener tied her career-highs in both kills (16) and blocks (six), helping the Jaspers to a five-set victory. Her attack percentage of .517 was the highest for a Manhattan player so far this season.
- Senior libero Alyssa Rehrer (Lorton, VA / South County) remains in the MAAC's top five for digs per set, averaging 4.37. With 1,402 digs in her career, she is just 25 away from tying for fifth in program history.
