Manhattan Rallies For Dramatic OT Win At Marist

Poughkeepsie, NY - Manhattan overcame a 13-point second-half deficit in defeating Marist 101-96 in overtime at McCann Arena.
 
The Jaspers outscored the Red Foxes 21-16 in the extra session while scoring on nine of their final 10 possessions in moving to 7-7 and 2-0 in the MAAC.
 
Senior Rich Williams (Brooklyn, NY / Vermont Academy (VT)) was a perfect 11-of-11 from the line and forced overtime by virtue of canning three-straight with less than two seconds to play in regulation. Williams finished up with an even 20 points while classmate Zane Waterman had 23 points and 12 rebounds to pace double-figure scores for the visitors.

In overtime, after sophomore Pauly Paulicap (Elmont, NY / Harcum College) split a pair at the line to tie it up with 3:30 to play sophomore Aaron Walker Jr. (Brooklyn, NY / Cardozo) swung the momentum for the visitors. Walker Jr. ripped the ball from Brian Parker and found senior Zavier Turner (Indianapolis, IN / Ball State), who completed an old-fashioned three-point play in giving Manhattan the lead for good at 86-83.

Marist would trim the lead to one only to see Walker Jr. convert a three-point play of his own before Paulicap took over with a pair of dunks and a layup as the Jaspers would push their advantage out to a seven-point lead before posting the aforementioned 101-96 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Manhattan is now 2-0 in overtime this season and 34-17, all-time, against Marist.
- It is also the second win for the Jaspers this year when trailing by double-figures (SFBK).
- The victory also represented the largest comeback victory since overcoming a 16-point deficit against George Mason on November 25, 2015.
- Manhattan hit the century mark for the first time since defeating LIU Brooklyn 111-84 on November 26, 2001.
- Head Coach Steve Masiello was a member of that staff and coaching in his third game as a Jasper.
- Manhattan recorded 10 steals while forcing 20 turnovers and is now 39-9 with reaching double-figures in steals under Masiello and 22-12 while forcing at least 20 miscues.
- Waterman and Williams gave Manhattan two players with at least 20 points for the first time since a 95-74 victory over Quinnipiac on February 19, 2017.
- Waterman and Williams each notched 20 points for the 11th time in their careers.
- Paulicap scored a career-high 19 points.
- Graduate transfer Ibrahima Diallo (Dakar, Senegal / Rutgers) made his debut, scoring four points in five minutes. 
- The Jaspers had five players reach double-figures in scoring for the first time since last year's opener at Bucknell.
- Waterman's double-double was his first of the year and fifth of his career.
- Manhattan has now seen eight of its 14 games decided by five points or less with the Jaspers going 5-3.
- Over the final five minutes and overtime, Manhattan was 18-of-19 from the line (.947).
- In their first seven games decided by five points or less, the Jaspers were just 32-of-48 from the line (.667) in the final five minutes/OT.
- Manhattan outscored Marist 44-14 in the paint.
- Brian Parker (33) and David Knudson (28) each scored career-highs with the Red Foxes connecting on 17-of-37 (.459) from deep.
