Riverdale, NY – Despite standout performances from seniors Alexandra Hutzler (Miller Place, NY / Miller Place) and Audrey Corcoran (West Boylston, MA / West Boylston), Manhattan women's swimming fell to Sacred Heart 126-77 in a dual meet competition on Saturday afternoon.
The meet marked the first home matchup at the Fieldston School for first-year head coach Molly Belk.
Hutzler was tops in the 200-yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:34.33. The senior placed in the top-three in her other events of the afternoon. She teamed with juniors Klaudia Nagrabska (Belmont, MA / Belmont) and Megan Pagano (Lagrangeville, NY / Arlington) as well as sophomore Kali Nembach (Lynbrook, NY / Lynbrook) in the 400-yard Medley relay to place second in 4:16.73. She was Manhattan's top finisher and third overall in the 200-yard Butterfly.
Meanwhile, Corcoran swam the 200-yard Backstroke in 2:19.51, the fastest overall time for a Jasper in the event. She took second in both the 200-yard IM and the 200-yard Freestyle relay.
On top of the 400-yard Medley relay, Nembach earned second place in the 50-yard and 100-yard Freestyle. Corcoran, senior Eileen Blood (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater Raritan), junior Morgan Fountain (Cheshire, CT / Cheshire) and sophomore Carolyn Crocker (Broad Channel, NY / Archbishop Molloy) placed second in the 200-yard Freestyle relay in 1:48.26.
Manhattan turns its attention to Monday, January 15, when both the women and men's squads face local foe Baruch. The first event at the ARC Aquatic Center is expected to begin at 6:00 pm.
