Manhattan Drops Midweek Tilt To NJIT

 NJIT rallied for a 3-1 win over Manhattan in non-conference action at Draddy Gymnasium.

The Jaspers fall to 0-11 while the Highlanders improve to 3-7.

Freshman Meagan Miller (Oakville, Ontario, Canada / Oakville Trafalgar) had a career-high nine kills, on .368 hitting, and eight blocks to pace Manhattan while junior Sandra Lozanova (Pernik, Bulgaria / Fresno State) had a season and team-high 12 kills.

Junior Taylor Hasley (Memphis, TN / St. Agnes Academy) notched her second double-double of the year with a season-high 16 assists and 11 digs with Alyssa Rehrer (Lorton, VA / South County) registering 19 digs and junior Zoe Lindsey (McHenry, IL / McHenry CC) 23 assists in rounding out the double-digit performers for the Jaspers.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- NJIT won by scores of 24-26, 25-19, 30-28, 25-19

- Manhattan notched a season-high 50 kills and 10 blocks.

- The Jaspers scored four-straight points to end the first set with a thrilling 26-24 victory while hitting at a .323 clip.

- Freshman Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) had six kills on .857 setting in the opening set while serving on the final three points.

- In the third set, Manhattan ripped off 10-straight points with nine coming off of Hoener serves.

- The Jaspers led 24-18 before NJIT scored seven-straight points to take a one-point lead.

- Miller had three kills and five blocks in the set with junior Casey Monroe (Riverview, FL / Riverview) registering three blocks.

- Manhattan hit .229 in the fourth and final set with senior Mary Donnelly (Temecula, CA / Chaparral) and Lozanova each recording three kills.

- Miller's aforementioned eight blocks matched her total for the season entering the night.

- NJIT, which hit .218, was led by Tess Albyn's match-high 22 kills, on .432 hitting.

UP NEXT
The Jaspers open MAAC play against Quinnipiac on Saturday, September 16 with opening serve slated for 1:00 pm at Draddy Gymnasium.
