Riverdale, NY – Manhattan will open the home portion of its 2017 schedule tonight when the Jaspers host Fordham in the 37th meeting of the teams in the annual Battle of the Bronx.

The match will be the first at Draddy Gymnasium under new head coach
Lora Sarich. In her previous tenure at Northwestern Ohio, Sarich won 29 home contests over four years. Last year, the Manhattan won seven matches on its home court.

Scouting the Rams
Fordham is 3-0 to begin the season following victories over Southeast Missouri State, University of New Orleans and Alcorn State at the UNO Invitational last weekend. Sophomore Olivia Fairchild and Freshman McKenna Lahr are the A-10's reigning Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. The Rams lead the nation with 33 service aces.
Series History
This is the 37th matchup in a rivalry that started in 1980. Fordham leads the all-time series 24-10-2. The Rams won last year's meeting in three sets. Manhattan's last win came in the Bucknell Tournament in 2011. The Jaspers' last victory against the Rams at home was on October 1, 2002.

Manhattan will participate in the Holy Cross Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Worcester, MA. The Jaspers will play Brown, Fairleigh Dickinson and Holy Cross.
