Macomb, IL - Manhattan will begin the
Lora Sarich era this weekend with three matches at the 2017 Hampton Inn Leatherneck Invitational at Western Illinois.

Sarich is set to begin her first season in Riverdale after leading Northwestern Ohio to 79 victories over the last four years. In 2014, the Racers won 27 matches and finished third in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference with an 18-4 conference record. Prior to her arrival at Northwestern Ohio, Sarich was the head coach at Point University in Georgia. She graduated from the University of Toledo in 2017 where she was a four-year standout for the Rockets.

The Returners
Manhattan returns 11 letterwinners from a year ago while welcoming five newcomers. All told, the Jaspers have one senior, seven juniors, two sophomores and six freshmen.

Is the junior trio of
Sandra Lozanova,
Olyvia Chaltas and
Zoe Lindsey. Lozanova averaged 2.43 kills per set while Chaltas checked in with 2.28 each time out. Lindsey served as the primary setter a year ago with 9.44 assists per set.

Manhattan will be looking for its fourth season-opening win in five years when it squares off against Chicago State in the tournament opener.

This season the Jaspers will be aiming for their fourth 20-win campaign in the last five seasons.

Homecoming Of Sorts
This weekend's matches will mark a homecoming of sorts for Lindsey and freshman
Erin Hoener as each student-athlete hails is a three-plus hour drive from the Western Illinois campus.
Scouting Chicago State
The Cougars went 3-26 a year ago and returns three starters.
Scouting Western Illinois
The Leathernecks were 4-28 last season and return five starters.
Scouting Evansville
The Purple Aces went 5-26 in 2016 and bring back all six starters.
