LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Manhattan College men's and women's track & field teams concluded the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Championships on Sunday at the Rider University Track & Field Complex.  Behind event wins by Dennis Eriksson (Sundsvall, Sweden) in the triple jump and Stefan Hoeller (Bergisch Gladbach, Germany) in the 400 meter hurdles, the men's squad finished third overall with 159.50 points.  The women's team also placed third with 131 points, as Paige Chapman (Abingdon, MD) claimed the individual crown in the 200 meters.

Eriksson, who finished fourth in the long jump on Saturday, got out to a winning distance of 14.99 meters (49 feet, 2¼ inches) in the triple jump.  He later added a third-place showing in the 110 meter hurdles (14.93).  Hoeller was sixth in that event (15.28), then notched a time of 53.72 seconds to take the gold in the 400 hurdles.  He also took sixth in the pole vault after clearing 4.25 m (13'11¼).  Chris Sandoli (Old Bridge, NJ), meanwhile, secured third place with a leap of 4.40 m (14'5¼).

Anthony Hall (Mountainville, NY) placed third in both the 100 (11.08) and 200 meters (22.68).  He also led off the 4x100 meter relay team that finished second in 42.64 seconds and ran the anchor leg in the 4x400 meter relay, as Manhattan captured third place in 3:24.65.  John Dove (Monroe, NY) placed third in the 1500 meters (3:56.10) and anchored the Jaspers to fourth place in the 4x800 meter relay (7:49.94).  Amir Khaghani (Bethesda, MD) added fifth-place points in the 5000 meters (14:37.59), and JP Merkler (Spring Lake, NJ) took sixth in the 400 meters (50.09).  Manhattan had two other scorers in 400 hurdles, as Wilmer Jovel (Closter, NJ) ended up sixth (56.35) and Conner Oldt (Williamsport, PA) was seventh (57.45).

Ire Bozovicar (Potoki, Slovenia) and Gustave Menocal (Bronx, NY) went 2-3 in the discus.  Bozovicar got out to 49.48 m (162'4), while Menocal's mark was 48.97 m (160'8).  In the shot put, Ryan Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, NJ) secured third place with a 15.82 m (51'11) effort, and Eric Waugh (Wheatley Heights, NY) took seventh with a 14.91 m (48'11) showing.  Brenton Foster (Townsville, Australia), meanwhile, tied for fourth place in the high jump (1.97 m, 6'5½).  He was selected as the Rookie of the Meet.  Manhattan also got eight-place points from Chris Woodhouse (Staten Island, NY) in the pole vault (4.10 m, 13'5¼) and Daniel Vilajeti (Scarsdale, NY) in the triple jump (13.70 m, 44'11½).

With 159.50 points, the Jasper men ended up behind Monmouth (210), which won its fourth consecutive MAAC outdoor title, and Rider (180.50), the indoor champions, in the team standings.  Manhattan's women, meanwhile, collected 131 points, just 8.5 behind second-place Rider.  Monmouth claimed its fourth straight women's team crown with 267 points.

On the women's side, Chapman contributed 18 points to the Jaspers' total.  In addition to winning the 200 in 25.75 seconds, she took second in the 100 meters with a 12.18-second clocking.  Dayzondra Gonzalez (Monroe, NY) placed fourth in the 100 (12.46), while Niasia Boone (Morrisville, PA) finished fifth in both the 100 (12.55) and 200 (26.12).  That trio began the day by joining with Kathy Cadet (Endicott, NY) to post a time of 47.73 seconds in the 4x100 relay, which was good for second place.

Manhattan also took second in both the 4x400 relay (3:55.27) and 4x800 relay (9:11.67).  Individually, Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma, NY) (57.34) and Mikeisha Kelly (Albany, NY) (57.95) went 3-4 in the 400, and Cadet placed fourth in the 400 hurdles (1:01.67).  Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY) posted a time of 17:40.50 to finish fourth in the 5000, while Kelly Gorman (South Amboy, NJ) grabbed fifth place in the 800 meters (2:13.25).

After taking second in the long jump on Saturday, Ellinor Persson (Taby, Sweden) led a 3-4-6 showing in the triple jump on Sunday.  Her best effort was 11.74 m (38'6¼).  Persson also finished seventh in the 100 meter hurdles (14.94).  Charlene Pohl (Bisingen, Germany) ended up fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.35 m (37'3), while Kathleen Cibuls (Blue Point, NY) had a mark of 11.13 m (36'6¼) to place sixth to go along with a seventh-place showing in the 200 (26.38).  Lina Bengtson (Malmo, Sweden), meanwhile, got out to 41.92 m (137'6) in the discus, which was good for fifth place.

In addition, the MAAC All-Academic Teams were announced.  Those student-athletes who've completed at least two semesters at their institution and have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher are eligible for All-Academic honors.  Manhattan had 18 women and 17 men recognized for their work in the classroom.
