Wappingers Falls, NY - Manhattan hit .462 on the day and scored 31 runs on 36 hits in sweeping Saint Peter's by scores of 19-1 and 12-2 in posting a doubleheader.

The Jaspers improve to 17-33 and 11-12 in the MAAC while the Peacocks fall to 0-37 and 0-23 in the league.

Seven different Manhattan players hit .400 or better on the day:
* Senior Matt Forlow (Cold Spring, NY / Haldane): .750 (6-for-8), 6 runs, 3 RBI
* Junior Fabian Pena (Miami, FL / Calusa Prep): .667 (6-for-9), 4 runs, 4 doubles, 4 RBI
* Senior Jose Carrera (Miami, FL / St. Brendan): .667 (6-for-9), 5 runs, 3 doubles, 3 RBI
* Junior Brendan Bisset (New City, NY / Don Bosco Prep (NJ)): .556 (5-for-9), 3 runs, 5 RBI
* Senior Jason Patnick (Hopewell, NJ / Hopewell Valley): .500 (4-for-8), 4 runs, 4 RBI
* Sophomore Richie Barrella (Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep): ..500 (4-for-8), 3 RBI
* Junior Michael Pfenninger (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central): .429 (3-for-7), 5 runs, 4 RBI

With tomorrow's graduation, the teams will conclude their series with a 12:00 pm single game on Saturday, May 20. Prior to the game, the Jaspers will honor their five seniors.

Game One:
Manhattan rapped out a season-high 19 runs and 22 hits while junior LHP Tom Cosgrove (Staten Island, NY / Farrell) struck out six over 6.0 scoreless frames as the Jaspers rolled to the game-one victory.


Cosgrove, the reigning MAAC Pitcher of the Week, finishes the regular season with 99 strikeouts and has won four of his last five starts..

The Jaspers quickly opened the scoring with a first-inning run. Carrera led off with a single before stealing second and moving over to third on a well-placed ground out. Pena then brought in Carrera with a sacrifice fly to center.

Manhattan added to its lead in the second inning with three runs thanks to run-scoring hits from Jason Patnick (Sr., Hopewell, NJ / Hopewell Valley) and Richie Barrella (So., Larchmont, NY / Canterbury Prep) before Carrera capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly.

The Jaspers would further dent the scoreboard with two-out scores in each of the next two frames. Forlow tripled with two outs in the third before Patnick plated him with a RBI single.

Bisset extended the lead to 6-0 in the fourth with a two-out RBI single to bring in Pfenninger.

Manhattan would deliver some more two-out magic in the fifth as Pfenninger crushed a single to right field to bring in Forlow. After stealing second, Pfenninger scored on Barrella's second run-scoring hit of the game in extending the lead out to 8-0.

The Jaspers then put the game out of reach with nine runs in the sixth before adding two more in the seventh.

Saint Peter's would get on the board with a run in the ninth to provide the final 19-1 count.

Game Two:
Manhattan completed its doubleheader sweep with a 12-2 victory in the nightcap thanks to rapping out 15 hits while senior RHP Joey Rocchietti (Green Brook, NJ / Watchung Hills) fired 6.1 innings of one-run ball.


The Jaspers quickly grabbed control with five runs in the top of the first thanks to rapping out five hits while batting around.

Manhattan added three runs in the second and four in the fourth in jumping in front 12-0.

Saint Peter's would dent the scoreboard with runs in the sixth and seventh innings in providing the final 12-2 count.

Rocchietti struck out four while yielding just one run on five hits in moving to 5-4.
