PRINCETON, NJ – On a cold and rainy day at Princeton University's Weaver Stadium, the Manhattan College outdoor track & field team concluded competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday. Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia) took first in the men's long jump, while Ellinor Persson (Taby, Sweden) placed second in the women's long jump.
Clarke, who had been sitting in second place, got out to a distance of 7.19 meters (23 feet, 7¼ inches) on his final attempt to earn the victory by five centimeters. Persson, meanwhile, beat Cornell's Claudia Dabrowski by one centimeter for second place overall and first among collegians in the women's competition. Her best effort was 5.76 m (18'10¾).
In the men's discus, Ire Bozovicar (Potoki, Slovenia) finished fourth with a mark of 50.08 m (164'4), while Gustave Menocal (Bronx, NY) placed sixth with a 48.21 m (158'2) effort. Brenton Foster (Townsville, Australia), meanwhile, cleared a season-best 1.99 m (6'6¼) to secure seventh place in the high jump.
Lina Bengtson (Malmo, Sweden) took third in the women's discus with a toss of 43.48 m (142'8), and Marisa Robbins (Goshen, NY) was sixth in the women's pole vault (3.50 m, 11'5¾). In addition, Charlene Pohl (Bisingen, Germany) finished sixth in the women's long jump with a 5.61 m (18'5) performance.
Next weekend, the Jaspers will take part in the 123rd edition of the historic Penn Relays. The four-day festival gets underway on Wednesday and concludes on Saturday. Manhattan will also send a contingent to the College of New Jersey's Lions Invitational on Saturday.
