WILLIAMSBURG, VA – The Manhattan College men's and women's outdoor track & field teams sent a group of distance runners to the Berkeley Reality Colonial Relays at the College of William & Mary's Zable Stadium on Friday. Despite a two-hour weather delay, the Jaspers competed well, recording a number of solid times.
In the men's 10,000 meters, which was held on Thursday night, Amir Khaghani (Bethesda, MD) and Chris Orlando (Newburyport, MA) both qualified for the IC4A Championships. Khaghani finished third in 30:32.49, while Orlando's time of 30:40.27 was good for fifth place overall.
John Dove (Monroe, NY) picked up his second IC4A qualifier on Friday. After enduring the weather delay, he raced to a time of 3:51.74 in the 1500 meters. Dove, who achieved the 800-meter IC4A standard last week, finished seventh overall in the event.
On the women's side, Erin Spadaccini (Wilmington, DE) placed 30th in the 1500 with a 4:41.99 clocking. Meanwhile, Kelly Gorman (South Amboy, NJ), who was able to take the track before the weather delay, took 22nd in the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.73.
Manhattan will take part in a pair of meets on Saturday. The Colonial Relays will conclude, while the Jaspers will also have a contingent entered in the Mark Young Invitational at Yale University.
