Manhattan Caps Carolina Relays With Two Event Wins

CHAPEL HILL, NC – The Manhattan College men's and women's outdoor track & field teams concluded the season-opening Dennis Craddock Carolina Relays with a pair of event wins on Saturday.  Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden) took first in the men's hammer throw, while Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma, NY) earned the victory in the women's 400 meters at Belk Track at Fetzer Field.

With a winning effort of 64.67 meters (212 feet, two inches), Litzell is currently sitting third on the qualifying list in the NCAA East Preliminary Round in the event.  He led a 1-3-6 finish for the Jaspers, as Gustave Menocal (Bronx, NY) also achieved the IC4A qualifying standard with a third-place effort of 54.85 m (179'11), and Nicholas Kocienda (Seaford, NY) had a personal-best mark of 48.99 m (160'9) to place sixth.   

A day after taking second in the 200 meters, Fabian Mueller (Amtzell, Germany) placed second in the 100 with a 10.88-second clocking.  Anthony Hall (Mountainville, NY) was third in 11.06 seconds.  That duo also teamed with Dennis Eriksson (Sundsvall, Sweden) and Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia) to grab second place in the 4x100 meter relay (42.79).  Eriksson added a third-place showing in the 110 meter hurdles (15.27), and Brenton Foster (Townsville, Australia) grabbed third place in the triple jump with a leap of 13.33 m (43'9).

In the women's 400, Davis and Mikeisha Kelly (Albany, NY) went 1-3.  Davis posted a time of 58.49 seconds, while Kelly finished in 58.95 seconds.  Kathy Cadet (Endicott, NY) took third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:04.69) and also helped the Jaspers place second in the 4x100 relay.  The quartet of Cadet, Paige Chapman (Abingdon, MD), Niasia Boone (Morrisville, PA) and Dayzondra Gonzalez (Monroe, NY) registered a time of 48.10 seconds.

Kathleen Cibuls (Blue Point, NY) finished sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 11.20 m (36'9), and Ellinor Persson (Taby, Sweden), who took third in the long jump on Friday, was eighth with an 11.15 m (36'7) effort.  That duo also contested the 100 meter hurdles, with Persson placing fifth (15.31), followed by Cibuls in sixth place (15.41).  Marisa Robbins (Goshen, NY), meanwhile, cleared 3.49 m (11'5¼) in the women's pole vault, which was good for third place.

Next weekend, the Jaspers will be in action at the Monmouth Season Opener.  The two-day meet gets underway on Friday and concludes on Saturday.
