Jaspers Conclude Successful MAAC Championships

Results: Day 4 | Complete

Recaps: Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3

BUFFALO, NY – The Manhattan College men's and women's swimming & diving teams wrapped up the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) LifeStorage Swimming & Diving Championships at the West Herr Natatorium on Saturday night.  The women's squad set a program record with 194 points to place eighth as a team, while the Jasper men tallied 180.5 points for their fourth consecutive eighth-place finish.

“Overall, the team performances were fantastic,” Head Coach Joe Murtha said.  “There were a number of all-time bests for many of our swimmers, which led to 12 school records being broken over the last four days.  On the women's side, we also set an all-time scoring record.  It was a great way to finish off the season.”

Kali Nembach (Lynbrook, NY) set that 12th school record of the meet with a time of 54.44 seconds in the preliminary round of the women's 100 yard freestyle.  Nembach then took 16th in the final with a 54.79-second clocking.  She later joined with Alexandra Hutzler (Miller Place, NY), Kathryn Voitik (Moscow, PA) and Cassandra Rubino (Thiells, NY) to finish ninth in the 400 yard freestyle relay (3:42.45).

Klaudia Nagrabska (Belmont, MA), meanwhile, represented the Jaspers in the “A” final of the women's 200 yard breaststroke.  She ended up eighth with a time of 2:29.67.  Audrey Corcoran (West Boylston, MA) qualified for the “B” final in the event, taking 14th overall in 2:33.35.

Manhattan also had two finalists in the men's 200 breaststroke.  Timothy Valentine (Massapequa, NY) qualified for the "A” final and placed eighth in 2:08.10.  After posting the 13th-best time in the preliminaries, Tyler Dalton (East Stroudsburg, PA) won the “B” final in a time of 2:07.76 to finish ninth overall.

In the meet-ending men's 400 freestyle relay, Neil Perry (Elkridge, MD), Christopher Reyes (Queens, NY), Tyler McCloskey (Orangeburg, NY) and Rich Llewellyn (East Islip, NY) registered a time of 3:13.99 to capture ninth place.
