Pauly Paulicap (Elmont, NY / Harcum College) scored 16 points with a game-high nine rebounds while senior
Zane Waterman (Winston-Salem, NC / Fayetteville Academy) had 17 points and eight rebounds to pace Manhattan in an 80-66 loss to Tulsa at the Reynolds Center.
The Jaspers trimmed a 20-point second half deficit to 11 on a pair of occasions but could get no closer in falling to 4-6 while Golden Hurricane improve to 7-4.
Manhattan shot 44.4 percent (26-of-58), including 40.0 percent (8-of-20) from deep, but was unable to overcome a 22-6 differential at the line.
In the first half, the Jaspers quickly opened the scoring with buckets from Paulicap and senior
Calvin Crawford (Middletown, NY / St. Thomas More (CT)) only to see Tulsa quickly respond with 13-straight points.
Manhattan would slice the deficit to 16-13 with 11:43 thanks to three-straight buckets from Waterman.
Unfortunately, the Golden Hurricane hit eight-straight shots in closing the half with a 13-2 spurt in opening up a 46-28 advantage.
Tulsa, which shot 54.2 percent (26-of-48) from the floor, including 46.2 percent (6-of-13) from deep, was paced by Junior Etou's game-high 24 points.
