Lawrenceville, NJ - Manhattan rolled past Rider by a 25-13 count in the first set before dropping the final three sets by counts of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-20 in MAAC action at Alumni Gymnasium.
Junior
Sandra Lozanova (Pernik, Bulgaria / Fresno State) notched her second double-double of the year with 14 kills and 14 digs to highlight the Jasper performers.
In the opening set, Lozanova had three kills and four digs as Manhattan jumped out to an early 14-9 lead before putting the set away with seven-straight points.
The Broncs opened the second set on a 15-4 run and appeared to be in total control before the visitors stormed back with 11-straight points to tie the match at 15-15. Lozanova four kills, including three-straight to start the spurt, and sophomore
Taylor Hasley (Memphis, TN / St. Agnes Academy) notched three aces. However, Rider responded with six-straight points in reclaiming the momentum and the lead en route to posting the aforementioned 25-20 win.
Over the final two sets, the Broncs hit at clips of .306 and .438 to clinch the match.
Junior
Alyssa Rehrer (Lorton, VA / South County) had 24 digs while Hasley recorded 21 assists to pace Manhattan in both categories.
The Jaspers hit at a .143 clip with 40 kills to go along with nine aces, against just five errors.
Hailey Riede had 17 kills to lead the way for Rider.
Manhattan will next be in action against Siena on Saturday, November 11 with opening serve at Draddy Gymnasium slated for 1:00 pm.
