Berkeley, CA - The Manhattan College women's basketball team travels to Berkeley, CA this Thanksgiving week to take on Pac-12 opponent Cal on Friday, November 24 at Cal's Haas Pavilion. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. EST.
On Saturday, the winner of Manhattan-Cal will take on either Missouri or Coppin State. A consolation matchup will be held for the other two teams.
Quick Hits:
- The Jaspers picked up their first win of the season on Saturday, November 18 over St. Francis Brooklyn. For the second year in a row, guard Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) hit a 3-point basket with less than 20 seconds left to seal a 3-point Jasper victory over SFBK.
- Senior center Kayla Grimme (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) was named the MAAC Player of the Week on November 20. Over the course of the week, she averaged 25.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, and 3.0 blocks in the Jaspers' two games played. Her 32 points scored and 14 field goals made against Sacred Heart on November 15 were league highs, as well as her five blocked shots against SFBK.
- Junior center/forward Kristine Anigwe leads Cal in scoring at 19.7 points per game, and in rebounding at 12.7 per game. She scored a game-high 28 points and pulled down a career-high 25 rebounds in a 10-point win against Brown on November 19.
- Senior guard Tatum recorded a MAAC-high 8 assists against St. Francis Brooklyn on November 18. Her 7 assists against Stony Brook on November 11 is also among the top performances in the league so far this season.
- The Golden Bears are currently ranked 21 in the Associated Press poll.
- The Manhattan-Cal game will be the first ever meeting between the schools.
