Riverdale, NY – Manhattan finishes up its regular season home slate on Wednesday, October 25 with a matchup against Niagara at 1:00 pm. The game will also honor the Senior Class of 2017.
With A Win…
The Jaspers would clinch a spot in the 2017 MAAC Tournament, their first postseason birth since 2015. Currently, the Jaspers are in second place with 15 points and one point behind first-place Rider. Manhattan would also secure its sixth conference win, which would be the most in the
Jorden Scott era.
Back in Business
Manhattan snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-1 road win over Siena on Saturday, October 21.
Lorenzo Froehle,
Troy Carrington and
Lucas Da Silva each contributed one goal. It was the third time this season the Jaspers had three different goal scorers in one game.
Senior Day Schedule
The Senior Day festivities will begin at approximately 12:45 pm at Gaelic Park. The Jaspers will honor six seniors on the roster.
Corentin Guégan – Locmine, France
He arrived to Manhattan after garnering 2016 Carolinas Second-Team All-Conference Honors at Limestone College. While he was unable to play this season due to injury, he has had a vital presence in the locker room and on the bench during games. He will graduate from Manhattan College with a degree in Business.
Greg Bohn – Loveland, OH
A four-year member of the Jaspers, he has played 111 minutes across six minutes this season. Of the five games he played in 2015, he started four in the midfield. He is a two-time MAAC All-Academic honoree in 2015 and 2016. In his junior year, he had a 3.93 GPA. He will graduate from Manhattan College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Troy Carrington – Verona, NJ
A three-year member of Manhattan Soccer, he has scored six goals in the Kelly Green and White. Of those six goals, four of them have been the game-winner, including his strike in the 77th minute against Navy to open this season and his tally last Saturday versus Siena. He will graduate from Manhattan College with a degree in Exercise Science with a concentration in Physical Therapy.
Luke Greaves – Bolton, Lancashire, England
A four-year member of the Jaspers, he has played in all but two matches during his time in Riverdale. He has been a starter since 2015 and was a MAAC All-Academic Team honoree in 2016. This year, he has anchored a back line that has allowed a conference-low four goals in MAAC competition. He will graduate from Manhattan College with a degree in Marketing.
Jose Meza – Clifton, NJ
A four-year member of the Jaspers, he has missed only one game in his career. He has made 40 starts at both the back line and at midfield. He was a 2016 MAAC All-Academic Team honoree, and as a captain this year, he scored his first collegiate goal on September 16th against St. Francis Brooklyn. He will graduate from Manhattan College with a degree in Accounting.
Joe Hulme – Bolton, Lancashire, England
A four-year starter for the Jaspers and a captain this year, he has contributed in multiple facets to the Kelly Green and White. In addition to strengthening the Jaspers' back line, he has provided offensive chances on the pitch as well. He shared the team lead in goals and points in 2016 and collected two assists in the conference win against Marist on September 30th. He has also excelled in the classroom with a 3.83 GPA last year and is a two-time MAAC All-Academic Team honoree. He will graduate from Manhattan College with a degree in Finance.
Fabian Burnett, who is listed as a senior on the roster, was honored in last year's Senior Day.
Manhattan has performed well recently on Senior Day, winning five of their last six contests.
Scouting the Purple Eagles
Niagara is 2-11-2 overall in 2017 and 1-5-1 in conference play. Their lone MAAC win was a 2-0 victory over Saint Peter's back on October 7.
Zulfikar Karimi and Bautista Pedezert lead Niagara's attack with five points each. Goalkeeper Steve Casey leads the MAAC with 5.50 saves per game and is fourth with a .717 save percentage.
Manhattan has won four of their last five matchups against the Purple Eagles, though Niagara won last year's contest 1-0. Each of the last five meetings have resulted in a shutout.
