BOSTON – While most of the Manhattan College indoor track & field team is taking this weekend off, the Jaspers were in action at a pair of meets on Friday.  A handful of women's distance runners headed to Boston University's Track & Tennis Center for the John Thomas Terrier Classic, while Manhattan also sent several sprinters to the Villanova Open at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

It was a successful trip to Boston for the women's distance squad, as Manhattan athletes qualified for the ECAC Indoor Championships in a pair of events.  Erin Spadaccini (Wilmington, DE) finished 10th overall and seventh among collegians in the 1000 meters with an ECAC-qualifying time of 2:53.14.  Alexa Roda (Staten Island, NY), meanwhile, hit the 800-meter ECAC standard of 2:14.44 on the nose.  She placed 24th in the event.  Kelly Gorman (South Amboy, NJ) just missed qualifying, as well, grabbing 27th place in 2:14.79.

At the Villanova Open, Anthony Hall (Mountainville, NY) finished sixth in the 60 meters with a 7.05-second clocking.  His time in the preliminaries was 7.02 seconds.  Hall also placed 11th in the 200 meters (22.71) and ran a leg on the 4x400 meter relay, which took fifth in 3:23.00.  In addition, Sean Mirando (Oakhurst, NJ) grabbed 10th place in the 60 meter hurdles with an 8.64-second clocking.

On Saturday, the John Thomas Terrier Classic continues with the men's events, as well as the women's distance medley relay.  Manhattan has entries in the mile and 3000 meters.
