STATEN ISLAND, NY – On Saturday night, the Manhattan College men's and women's indoor track & field teams returned to action at the Penn 8-Team Select from the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.  Manhattan earned three victories in men's field events, while also posting a number of ECAC/IC4A qualifying performances.

Ryan Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, NJ) won the men's shot put with a toss of 17.07 meters (56 feet).  Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden), meanwhile, had the three best efforts of the competition in the weight throw.  His best mark was 19.73 m (64'8¾).  Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia) was just as dominant in the long jump.  He got out to a distance of 7.28 m (23'10¾), which was 25 centimeters better than the second-place finisher's result.

John Dove (Monroe, NY) qualified for the IC4A Championships in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.74.  He was also a member of the Jaspers' 4x800 meter relay squad that took second in 7:54.35.  Dennis Eriksson (Sundsvall, Sweden) (8.49), Sean Mirando (Oakhurst, NJ) (8.58) and Conner Oldt (Williamsport, PA) (8.70) went 2-3-4 in the 60 meter hurdles, while Stefan Hoeller (Bergisch Gladbach, Germany) grabbed third place in the pole vault (4.50 m, 14'9).  Brenton Foster (Townsville, Australia), meanwhile, secured fifth place in the high jump (1.95 m, 6'4¾) to go along with a fourth-place showing in the triple jump (13.04 m, 42'9½).  Daniel Vilajeti (Scarsdale, NY) took second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.18 m (43'3).

Manhattan also had a number of strong performances on the women's side.  Paige Chapman (Abingdon, MD) posted a personal-best time of 7.61 seconds to place second in the 60 meters.  Meanwhile, the quartet of Kelly Gorman (South Amboy, NJ), Alexa Roda (Staten Island, NY), Erin Spadaccini (Wilmington, DE) and Kaitlyn Smith (Effort, PA) secured second place in the 4x800 relay.  Their time of 9:20.19 was good enough to qualify for the ECAC Championships.

One week after opening the season with an ECAC-qualifying mark, Ellinor Persson (Taby, Sweden) took second in the long jump with a 5.53 m (18'1¾) effort.  Charlene Pohl (Bisingen, Germany) finished just behind Persson with a leap of 5.51 m (18'1), which was good for fourth place.  Marisa Robbins (Goshen, NY) added a third-place showing in the pole vault (3.50 m, 11'5¾), and Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY) grabbed fifth place in the 5000 meters with a 10:06.29 clocking.

The meet was team-scored between the eight participating schools, and Manhattan was second on the men's side with 83.5 points.  On the women's side, the Jaspers earned 36 points to capture fifth place.

In addition, Head Distance Coach Kerri Gallagher made her season debut at the New Balance Games, which were held at the Armory Track & Field Center.  She placed fourth in the elite/pro mile with a time of 4:32.35.

Next weekend, the Jaspers will take part a pair of meets.  The sprinters and field event athletes will return to Ocean Breeze for the Villanova Invitational on Friday, while the distance runners will head to Boston for the John Thomas Terrier Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
