Manhattan Drops Dual Meet to Sacred Heart

Results

FAIRFIELD, CT – On Saturday afternoon, the Manhattan College women's swimming & diving team returned to action for the first time in more than a month with a dual meet against Sacred Heart.  Despite two wins and a second-place finish by Alexandra Hutzler (Miller Place, NY), the Jaspers suffered a 118-83 loss to the Pioneers at McCann Natatorium.

After winning the 200 yard individual medley in a time of 2:18.73, Hutzler had roughly 15 minutes before the 100 yard butterfly.  The short break didn't prove to be a factor, as she also took first in that event with a 1:01.62 clocking.  Hutzler also swam the 100 yard breaststroke and led a 2-3-4 showing for the Jaspers.  Her time was 1:10.82.  Klaudia Nagrabska (Belmont, MA) placed third in 1:13.60, while Audrey Corcoran (West Boylston, MA) was fourth in 1:15.62.

Carolyn Crocker (Broad Channel, NY) took second in the 1000 yard freestyle (11:33.73), then added a third-place showing in the 500 freestyle (5:41.89).  Kathryn Voitik (Moscow, PA) finished second in the 500 freestyle (5:38.17) and third in the 200 yard freestyle (2:07.08), while Abie DeLisio (Woodstock, NY) was third in the 1000 freestyle (11:46.40).  Kali Nembach (Lynbrook, NY) grabbed second place in the 50 yard freestyle (25.96) to go along with a third-place showing in the 100 yard freestyle (56.40), and Megan Pagano (Lagrangeville, NY) swam the 100 yard backstroke in 1:06.06, which was good for third place.

“It was great to get back to competition after a month away,” Head Coach Joe Murtha said.  “The women swam well, really pushing themselves after a tough training week.  We showed a lot of energy right from the start and we left it all in the pool.  I am proud of the women and their performances.”

The meet was originally scheduled to be held at the Ethical & Cultural Fieldston School, but was moved to Sacred Heart due to an emergency facility issue.  As a result, Manhattan's home meet against LIU Brooklyn and Baruch, which was originally scheduled for Monday, has also been postponed.  A make-up date for the meet, as well as the Jaspers' Senior Day ceremonies, is yet to be announced.
