Blerim Pocesta Places 14th at USATF Indoor Championships

Results

PORTLAND, OR – Senior Blerim Pocesta (Staten Island, NY) of the Manhattan College men's track & field team competed in the weight throw at the USATF Indoor Championships at the Oregon Convention Center on Friday afternoon.  His best effort of 19.46 meters (63 feet, 10¼ inches) was good for 14th place overall.

Pocesta became the first active Manhattan athlete to compete at the U.S. Nationals since eight-time All-American Jake Freeman contested the same event in 2004.  Freeman missed this year's meet due to injury.  Colin Dunbar won the national title with a throw of 23.96 m (78'7½).

This year's USATF Indoor Championships are being held at the same site as next weekend's IAAF World Indoor Championships.  The weight throw is not a World Indoors event, however, so there were no places on the national team at stake.
